Industrial Chemical Sales Manager

In the Chemical Sales/Supervisor/Manager position, you will work directly with the Sales Division Manager, providing leadership and direction to the Chemicals department. In addition, one of the main focuses of the position is communicating with our customers & chemical suppliers, providing quotes, order processing and overall sales support. Throughout this diverse role you will develop an understanding of the water treatment and warehousing processes, while expanding upon your sales and communication skills in a team oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Main point of contact for customer calls and emails regarding chemical orders
- Establishes and preserves a positive relationship with the customer and supplier base
- In coordination with Sales Division Manager determine overall direction of the Chemicals Department
- Initiate and follow up customer quotes through product delivery
- Provide and maintain accurate and current information on customer order status
- Visit customer sites to further foster sales growth
- Prepare and issue customer purchase orders
- Review customer order history to track and prepare next required order
- Ensure accuracy between supplier purchase orders and vendor billing
- Procure chemical orders from vendors for shipping to customers or warehouses
- Compare current warehouse locations in relationship to customer base to improve freight and warehouse costs
- Coordinate chemical orders between supplier base, logistics, and warehouses
- Analyze customer order history with front office to establish and maintain customer credit and on time payment status
- Manage inventory levels at warehouses to ensure all chemical orders will be fulfilled when required
- Assist current customers with improving and troubleshooting chemical treatment
- Oversee and assign daily/weekly tasks to the Chemical Accounts Manager and Chemical Lab Technician
Qualifications:
- Mid-level (7-15 years) sales or other business experience, preferably with chemicals
- Direct customer service experience is required
- Demonstrable experience in negotiating prices and terms and conditions
- Knowledge of market research, data analysis and sales best practices
- Excellent communication, decision making, and interpersonal skills
- Strong negotiation, decision making and organization skills
- Establishes and manages work priorities
- Logistic experience with regard to shipping nationally and internationally is a plus
- Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook
- Must be self-starter capable of working both independently, as well as part of the team
- Minimum education: associates degree in sales, business, or related field
