Environmental Health Sanitarian / Associate Sanitarian
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SANITARIAN / ASSOCIATE SANITARIAN
Bureau/Putnam/Marshall County Health Department has a full time, 40 hours per week, position opening for an Environmental Health Sanitarian / Associate Sanitarian.
Selected candidate will report directly to the Director of Health Protection and Administrator. He or She will be responsible for inspections at food service facilities and temporary food stands to insure compliance with state and local food regulations, inspections of private sewage disposal systems, portable sanitation trucks, water well construction, tanning & body art facilities, nuisance complaint locations and assist the emergency preparedness coordinator with emergency preparedness. Once trained, authorizes permits to install wells and private sewage disposal systems and licensing of food facilities; reviews plats; works with public, including developers, homeowners, contractors, food establishments, non-community water supply and tanning facility operators as needed; assists with food sanitation classes.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in environmental health. Illinois L.E.H.P. credential is preferred. Or a B.S. degree in physical or biological sciences or a related field, with a minimum of 30 semester hours of basic sciences. Or an associate's degree with a minimum 30 semester hours of basic sciences. Possession of a valid appropriate driver's license; ability to provide reliable transportation for work assignments; possession of appropriate level of automobile insurance as specified in the Department's personnel policies; satisfactory background and drug test.
