CAD Drafter
SUMMARY
This position will require working with a great deal of autonomy after training. The primary responsibility is to do plan takeoffs provided by the customer and generate equipment layout (machine guarding, locker layouts) with corresponding BOM utilizing AutoCAD® software. Sales will then use the drawings and BOM for quoting to the customer. Questions that arise are to be communicated to the Sales associate; communicating exceptions are critical for Sales to provide accurate quotes. Secondary responsibility will be to generate instructions for assembling product in the field, utilizing SolidWorks® Composer software. Once up to speed on instruction generation, animated instructions can then be derived from manipulating the SolidWorks® part files via Composer.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and written/oral instructions for the proper layout for Folding Guard
fencing
2. Learn basic knowledge of Folding Guard products and their applications
3. Create 2D submittal drawings and a Bill of Materials showing the layout of Folding Guard material using
AutoCAD
4. Contact the Account Executives and/or Regional Managers for clarification to complete drawings. The
same applies if requested product line does not fit within the parameters of each job
5. Work with Engineering on custom products and proper product usage
6. Email completed drawings to the Account Executives and copy any others involved in the project
7. Copy drawings into the SuperOffice program after completion
8. Monitor the Drawing Schedule & Project Task screen daily
9. Use the ERP system to look up part numbers and the breakdown parts within assemblies
10. Use the ERP system to access part drawings
11. Document all correspondence and conversations into the Quote folder
12. Update the Lead CAD Drafter on the status of all projects.
13. When projects go on hold for any reason, keep in touch with the Account Executive on any new information
and document with specifics the reason in the Project Task Screen & Quote folder.
14. Assist Inside Sales with design questions. May also sit in and assist with conference calls regarding
product design.
15. Other duties may be assigned
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
1. 2 years of formal AutoCAD® and SolidWorks® education
2. Preference is for 1 to 2 years experience in industry
3. Proficient with AutoCAD® 2D design software and SolidWorks® 3D
4. SolidWorks® Composer experience a big plus!
5. Ability to read and understand blueprints
6. Excellent math skills
7. Excellent communication skills
8. Experience with Microsoft Office software- Excel, Word and Outlook

WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Working conditions are normal for an office
environment. Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hardhats. Work may require travel. Work may require evening and weekend work. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
