The McHenry Township Fire Protection District is accepting applications for the position of Administrative Assistant to the Fire Chief.

This is a staff level administrative position that works directly with the Fire Chief performing diverse administrative duties and support. Responsibilities include payroll, scheduling, data collection, report preparation, meeting preparation, keeping of official records, office management and meetings, speaking with the public, and backup to the Administrative Assistant to the Deputy Chiefs position. This administrative position will also be able to perform some Business Manager functions as a backup.

Applicants must be able to perform all essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability required. High school diploma or GED required. Associate's Degree in Secretarial Science or Office Management from a two-year college or technical school is desired. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Business Management, Business Administration, Secretarial Sciences or Office Management preferred.  Proven work experience and knowledge can be substituted for college degree.

Administrative experience with either a Fire Protection District or a municipal Fire Department is preferred.
