Radford University invites applications for the position of Assistant Manager, Network Services in the Division of Information Technology. This position will assist in leadership, coordination and strategic direction for all aspects of Radford University’s network infrastructure. Participate in the design and support of telecommunication networks for the university. Implement and maintain a multi-campus wired, wireless and VoIP network to ensure maximum network and voice performance and availability. Diagnose and resolve complex wired, wireless and VoIP issues. Supervise assigned staff by establishing priorities, evaluating performance, assessing staff developmental needs.
Required Qualifications: Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP communications, 802.11 wireless networking, wireless encryption, routing protocols, and network security. Ability to configure and utilize diagnostic tools to analyze, identify, and resolve telecommunication problems. Demonstrated ability to think logically and solve problems in a fast-paced team environment. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical issues effectively.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in evaluating, designing, testing, implementing, and troubleshooting wire and wireless networking and VoIP hardware and software in a complex multi-campus converged data/voice/video network. Knowledge of Cisco Identity Services Engine and Cisco Enterprise Wireless configuration and management. Knowledge of Linux, and Windows operating systems. Knowledge of Cisco Unified Communication Manager, Unity voice mail and Unified Contact Center Express. Experience designing and managing technology projects. Knowledge with the design and installation of layer 1 cable infrastructures (fiber, copper, coax)
